I just bought excursion v10 a week ago. I went to put in a brake controller and apparently knocked a wire lose cause I am now getting a symptom of the truck will crank but no start. I am guessing that what ever I did affected the pcm cause I am also not getting any gauge movement when I turn key to on position either. The steering column was replaced before I purchased the excursion due to attempted theft so it's not the prettiest wiring job down there but I dont see anything that I knocked lose. I've checked all the fuses I can think of based on fuse list. I'm at a loss.... any help would be very appreciated. I'm supposed to use this vehicle to take my family on vacation soon.
I can take pics or send any other info if it will help. Thanks again
I’d recommend pulling the lower dash and having a good look in there. It’ll just be easier. If the wiring is all messy then you may be better off pulling the front seat and the fuse panel cover too just to be able to get in there easy. I don’t have an off the top of my head answer, but if it’s bad enough to cause a crank no start, I’d be pulling dash pieces and cleaning stuff up under there, especially if you’re taking a long trip.
oh! And welcome to FTE! Post up some pics of your rig! And the wiring under the dash...
I will continue to search and clean it up under there.
I also noticed that the negative battery cable was loose. I'm not sure if alternately if that could cause an issue to any starting systems
probably not since you say it’s cranking, but if it were me, I’d make sure the battery cables were all tight and clean and that the battery was fully charged In the slight chance that that fixes your issue.

Sounds to me more like you knocked loose (or otherwise caused a fault) in the circuits that powers the instrument cluster.
Start by checking to ensure that CJB fuse F02 is passing power (ALWAYS HOT) to both the cluster and the PATS module. Failure of that power circuit will cause BOTH of your stated symptoms. Puling and staring at a fuse is not sufficient to determine if it's actually doing any work, it will only tell you if it's obviously blown.
A loose battery terminal or a discharged battery would be expected to cause different symptoms, usually a failure to crank.

I'll check that this afternoon and see what I get. The only thing that comes on on cluster is the theft light. It is not blinking fast but it does come on
That's the problem, then. You'll need to troubleshoot the power feed that is supposed to go to fuse F19.
any clue what color wire to be looking at or where the wire should start and end. I'm kind of oblivious. I really do appreciate your help. Feel like I'm moving in the right direction

Right by my hand is a black and black and white wire but i have no clue where it goes. I tried it as a ground but didnt seem to do anything

after more work on it last night I jumped power to #19 and was able to get vehicle started. It also energized the twisted black and black/white wires. However I still have no clue where they go. I assume that the go somewhere that give them power to energize fuse 19.
