Other than the 6L tune-up and dual exhaust my truck is stock. The duals were on it when I purchased the truck, I'd like to go with a single exhaust. At first I looked into a Walker system on Rock Auto, but since the previous owner cut the flange off on the pipe that connects to the catalytic converter, I'd have to replace everything from the exhaust manifold back. Maybe I could do a Y pipe into a converter or muffler?
Does anybody have any recommendations or links as to what size pipe and brand? I'm not in an area that emission tests if that makes a difference. Would like it to be quiet if possible and has to be able to survive heavily salted roads.
what will be your price range, is yours rusted enough to need replacing, all, want/need stainless steel
$300 to $500 if possible. Will probably keep the truck for another 5 years, so I would like it to last that long. I looked at a Magnoflow catalytic converter, it was $500. That's a lot of money for an old farm truck.
y-pipe is worse than trying to find a needle in hay stack, blindfolded, depending how rusted your y-pipe is at the manifold, you could measure what size they are, and get a merge y-pipe, with 2 1/2" outlet, and run one Dynomax super turbo(really quite), or attempt to find better manifold, pipe connections at junkyard, and cut them off right behind the crossover(keeping the O2 bung) but in front of catalytic converter, I'm with you on farm truck, and using that $500 somewhere else.
if you want stainless steel check these MagnaFlow Y-Pipe Transitions - 2.500 in. Outlet Diameter (in) - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing
F150/Bronco y-pipe fits your F350 w/5.8L engine. That y-pipe is a single output. Parts are much cheaper than the F250/350 versions. Walker/Bosal/Eastern all make a y-pipe/converter in the ~$200 range. Add a length of pipe, muffler and tailpipe you are good to go.

That has to do with the way parts companies list and package things, for example if you go to Summit Racing and search for "catalytic converter" for these trucks you will inadvertently find a whole bunch of direct replacement Y pipes.. with converters.
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I never knew the F150/Bronco pipe would fit a F350.
Well, I spent more than I wanted to, but it's a very mechanically sound truck that either saves or makes me money. At the very least, if I do a 460 swap, I can still use the Flowmaster. Hoping to gain a little torque and throttle response being that it's a 3" system from the cat back. Ended up going with the Bassani 58150B2 Bassani Offroad and Flowmaster 17211 https://www.autohance.com/flowmaster...-force-ii.html
