I've had my 1991 RV for a year now. She's based on a 1991 E 350 Cutaway, and has a mighty powerful and thirsty 7.5 l gas eater. I'm lucky when she get's over 8 MPG (basically on the open flat roads of Northern California's Sacramento valley). but averages more like 6-7 mpg in the Sierra's and city driving. I was hopeful of gas prices under $2/gal after COVID shut everything down... too bad that didn't last out here.
I've familiarized myself with much of her engine, front end and drive train. Did a tune-up & flushed lines, repaired the A/C, new pads, calipers & brake likes on the fronts. Avoided replacing spark plugs, because it runs great and SMOG test numbers are stellar, but worried about the day I need to service plugs 1 & 5... HOW THE HECK can anyone over 6 years old get these out???? Luckily, previous owners just had the transmission fully rebuilt. I've also put new heavy duty leaf springs on back...wow...what a difference!!!
Also, I learned what a clogged cat converter sounds like during our first road trip! (It's a long story...quite the learning experience!!). Well, she's my beauty and I hope she's around for many of her golden age years. Cheers!
