Have an old 94 7.3 idi. Fires up easily when it's cold. Once it gets up to operating temp she doesn't like to start after you shut her off till it cools down again. I suspect some kind of air intrusion somewhere. Or possibly injector cracked? Anyone ever have the same symptoms or any thoughts of what could be going on?

Understand on your 94 you have a Check Valve in place of the older Orifice ... the test still applies.

 

Sounds like a worn out injection pump. When it doesn't start pour water (I think room temp, NOT cold) over the injection pump. Then try to start it. When the pump wears out the tolerances get looser when its warmed up so it has trouble starting. But when cold, its tighter and starts up.
