Hi, I have some questions.
I am struggling with the e-350 conversion to a 4x4 based on f-250 axles, I have a dilemma regarding the transfer case.
My van is e-350 '97 7.3 powerstroke, e4od gearbox
question 1.
I can buy just np271 tc from the f-350 with 6.0 and 5r110w gearbox, but will it fit my e4od?
question 2.
will the complete set of 5r gearbox and np271 fit 7.3?
What problems can I expect with this modification?
.... question 1.

No. You can't put a transfer case on a 2WD trans. You need a 4WD trans.
It is possible to convert a 2WD trans to a 4WD. The hard (and usually most expensive) way is to buy an output shaft and a tail shaft housing for the 4WD version of your trans and completely disassemble the trans so you can swap those parts in. The easy and usually cheaper way is to sell your 2WD trans and buy a 4WD trans
If you get another E4OD of about the same years (and with the right bellhousing) it should bolt right up and plug right in. If the year is off you might be able to convert the electricals, but someone else will need to actually answer that.
