Transfer case swap question
I have a '91 F250 7.3 IDI 4X4 I bought a '95 with a 460 CI engine that I was going to get running but it has more issues than I want to contend with I know the E4OD trans want fit the 7.3 (shucks) , my question is this, will the transfer case fit the 5 speed trans behind the 7.3 IDI, I'm wanting to swap them out because the previous owner did away with the protective plate the '91 and well you know the rest of that story on the transfer case, it's not broke but it has been scuffed pretty good.

Yes, and no on the transfer case, it will bolt up to the ZF but the 95 doesn't have the gear inside for the speedo drive and I think the front drive yoke is a different size. I think it can be done with some parts swapping, I need to do this myself I have a 92+ TC I want to put in my 89 but that's a back burner project.

There's a hole in the tail shaft that indexes the gear, I just can't be sure that that whole was drilled in later cases. If the whole is there then yeah swap the gear and tail housing, if not maybe drill it.
