Ok all you stereo guru's. LOL My wife wants me to install a good cd/dvd/bluetooth/backup camera double din stereo in the 2000 superduty stroker before we go on our 6000 mile round trip. I have been researching, looking, and trying to figure out everything and my head is spinning. I don't have a clue as to what is a good brand and what all I need to install it. Been watching u-tube vids but the more I watch the less sure I get. My stereo brain is stuck in the 70's. I know I can install and make the mods necessary to get the thing to fit...problem is how to know what all parts I need to go with stereo. I also searched the stereo threads but no help.
Maybe one or more of you can advise/recommend something so I can get this done. My budget for the stereo is around $200.00 or so.
Wow don't really want to spend that much...I'll keep researching! Maybe I can get something decent for $500 or less...Just don't know...I just want the thing to work good and last awhile....
You could get one like this, it doesn't play CDs but should do everything else. If you want the CD option you will have to sort through them to find one with the options you want. I currently have one that works with Apple Car play and Android auto.
All of the ones I have had had Bluetooth that was very clear and a backup camera option. Get your camera off of Amazon. eSky is a brand I have used a couple of times. $30 or less. Picture is great.
X2 for Crutchfield. Their website makes it easy to pick out a few head units that will fit your rig, and you can price check from there.
I recently used them for my daughter's Buick. Bought a Sony double DIN unit from them for $350, along with the install kit and chime module her car needed. Bought the backup cam separately on Amazon. Install was simple.
They had competitive pricing when I shopped around.
Just wanted to say thank you for the heads up about Crutchfield. I went to the site and entered the make, model, year of truck and wallah I was shown all the options that fit and purchased what I was looking for for under $350.00. The Ford wiring harness to stereo, the correct install kit, screws, directions, quick connectors, and back-up camera was free along with free shipping. I don't think I could have found a better deal for a brand name stereo head!
Thanks again

sounds like a great installation thread. I would be watching closely if you did it.
This Atoto A6 Pro (android) head unit was under $200 (open box/return).
No CD/DVD drive, but who uses that antiquated technology anyway? Lol.
I just got it before Christmas and have barely driven the truck except on the trip right after I got it - so not ready to recommend it just yet. But it works perfectly. Download any phone app. I am using google maps and downloaded all the maps in my travel area and from GA to FL for that trip. So WiFi/cell service is not required. But if phone is a hotspot or you want to add s data-only service for this device - it does a lot of things.
I have Torque Pro in mine and stream pandora via Bluetooth from my phone. Also have ‘mix tapes’ on thumb drives for music.

I agree with Brian. I know many of you have installed double din stereo heads in the past and if anyone would like a write up with pics as I install the one I ordered from Crutchfield I would be glad to do a detailed step by step scenario for this particular application. The stereo I purchased has cd/dvd player, bluetooth, usb, av hook-ups, back-up camera for rear license plate mount, etc...all the bells and whistles minus gps. I ordered a Tom Tom Gps separately.
Well let me know if there is any interest in the write up and pics as the stereo head just shipped today.
