It should probably be mentioned that you should NOT be pumping grease into any of the cavities if you have automatic hubs and still expect the vacuum actuation to work. Those cavities are what the pressure signal flows through to activate the automatic hubs.

good point, just curious but if i decided to go with manual locking hubs on a automatic 4x4 truck , would i then be able to grease through abs hole? Maybe remove and cap the vacuum line?

Yes, you can. You can also replace the vacuum nipple on the knuckle with one of these:

Performance Tool W54241 1/8" NPT Grease Fitting, (Pack of 10)

Sort of. The nipple in the knuckle goes to the cavity behind the unit bearing. The one in the ABS hole goes to the cavity in between the two taper bearings that make up the unit bearing.

This is not accurate.

The inside of the unit bearing has ZERO communication with the ESOF hubs or anything else. This is a SEALED cavity.

ALWAYS fill the unit bearing with grease through the ABS sensor hole. I do this at brake pad changes or anytime I have the rotors off for any reason. There is no good reason not to.

Greasing the vacuum port or over greasing the area where thrust washers are can interfere with ESOF.

Oh yes you're right. I forgot that the spindle passes through the taper bearings and seals that cavity.
