I have this relay that's hanging down behind the dash of my 78 Bronco. Its by the headlight and wiper dash switch. Anyone know what this is for? part# d8sb-15b683-aa
It's not a part number but an engineering number, typically stamped on parts.
Any way, according to this post, it's for the rear power window. Although in my experience (for 80s trucks) anything with a part number in the 15000s relates to an accessory, so I initially thought it was for fog lights.
This link explains the difference between the two number types, engineering vs service.
As for a replacement, try calling a Ford dealer parts department so they can search their database. You could also check LMCtruck.com, Jeff’s Bronco Graveyard, or Rock Auto, .
Thanks for your help. I tried Ford and all the ford parts websites. I'm trying to figure out how I match my relay to a replacement relay. I'm not that knowledgeable with this electronics stuff. All I know, its a 12V three prong relay.
Amp I have no idea......

Ford couldn’t help? An alternative is to buy a copy of the Ford Master Parts Catalog for
your truck, which lists all the part (service) numbers to help you identify parts. It looks like this:
Buy it, it’s worth its weight if you’re trying to find illustrations of the truck’s various components and to identify parts to replace.
As for a modern alternative, there has to be something that will fit, even if you have to attach spade connectors on the wires to fit the new relay, but like you, I haven’t looked into how to do that.
Wow, didn't know that existed. I see that they have a pdf download too - very cool. I sent an email to Digikey. Probably the worlds largest supplier of electronic parts and relays. They replied that we don't have anything. How can they not have a simple 3 prong relay for a ford truck? I think I'm overthinking this. There must be a relay to replace what I have.

Likely because the world has moved on from 70s Ford technology. But at least with the parts catalog you will find the part number, and may find a replacement online.
You could also test whether the relay is working. Search Google for “how to test a relay.” Most videos will test the Bosch style cube relays, but it’s a start.
Thanks Vroma, Thats what I was trying to research, how to test a 3 prong relay. I really don't understand how to do it. If anyone can provide some simple directions that would be great. I know 12v is getting to the relay.
Funny that the rear tailgate key switch works. Is there a separate relay for front and back switches?
Here is a link to FSB about the rear window relay. https://www.fullsizebronco.com/threa...window.229921/
Another link to a wiring diagram for the circuit. The relay has to be mounted to metal for it to ground through the case from what I see. https://www.supermotors.net/registry/media/1032657_1
There are 2 power circuits for the rear window. One is direct to the key switch and one through the relay to the dash switch.
I searched on E bay with your part number and came up with this hit. There may be others. Good luck! https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1972-19...kAAOSwQiNc3F68
If you can run a jumper from the relay case to ground, you can check operation of the switch. You should have 12V at the Blk/Wh wire at all times. When the key is turned on, you should have 12V on the Blk/Grn wire and the other Blue/Bk wire should get energized to 12V.
Let me first apologize for my stupidity. I thank you all for your input in trying to help. The damn relay needs to be grounded...duh. Thats what the hole is for on the relay bracket. It attaches somewhere under the dash. I hooked up a ground wire and bingo, the dash switch works. Sorry all....
Through your question and everyone’s help, anyone else searching for this same problem may find your solution. As I’ve been told many times, the dumb question is the one not asked.
