Hi, I have a 89 f350 with a 460 and e4od backing it, the problem is that it shakes like a maraca, it shakes the whole truck sometimes and it doesn't have the power it use to, slight difference though. I checked the harmonic balancer and replaced it because the rubber seal was separating but not to the extent that I think it would cause this I also changed the counter weight but that didn't do anything, prior to me figuring out the balancer situation I was running the truck with the old balancer for about 20 miles, it has a different exhaust pitch. I pulled the distributor and installed a new one and now the truck won't start, made sure it was on top dead compression stroke twice still nothing. Old distributor was hard to turn by hand, changed coil, plugs, wires, ignition solenoid and ignition control module nothing work truck started before every time before, checked the usual suspects as well fuel, air, ignition, still nothing. So did I jump a tooth on the timing chain because it doesn't show the simptoms of a usually jump, #1 is at the top the two valves are lose and the rotor is pointing to #1 on the cap. Is it motor and transmission mounts, did I blow the motor, because before I removed the dizzy it still would start and move almost dieing when I put it in gear, before the problem developed it had a torque converter shudder and in the process of changing the coil the old one didn't deliver spark but it was brand new execl coil with a little more voltage, any help is appreciated, Mahalo.
460 sounds like you have a lot to suss out? I'd pull the valve covers and find TDC as well as verify the cam isnt wiped for starters swap in the old dizzy to see if it will start again..
