Angry Tailgate Opening Randomly

2018 250, has the remote tailgate opener.
It's had the recall done for the water/harness issue that allowed the tailgate to open when it rains.

It's opened twice on its own since that recall was done.

Anyone else having issues?

That sucks. I’ve never had the tailgate open but opted for the recall anyways. Luckily it still hasn’t opened. Back to the dealer for you.

I thought it happened to me 3 times in one day until I realized I was accidentally touching the button with the inside of my wrist as I was pulling the parking brake handle loose backing out of my driveway. Maybe you’re doing the same thing?

And sometimes it is the key in your pocket, sometimes if there are other keys on the key ring they push up against a button on the fob, if you have the push button start so the key is in your pocket.

Pull the fuse when not needed until you can get it in for the recall

BTW, I had the recall fix but it still happens once in a while. When it does happen, it's when I put the truck in reverse.

My tailgate no longer opens with the inside button if the truck is running since the recall was done. Is that correct?

My 18 had the tailgate recall and the tailgate will still open by pressing the interior dash button when the truck is running or when running and in gear. I don’t know if a certain speed will disable the button.

Make sure you hit unlock first, otherwise it won't drop.

Good point. I have auto lock turned off so my doors are always unlocked when I’ve dropped the tailgate while in gear.
