octane boosters

No, not very well. One of the car mags did a test of about a dozen of them. The best only gained 1 or 2 numbers on the scale, when mixed as directed. Some of them even lost octane value. When mixed 2 times stronger than recommended, one of them gained from 93 up to 96. Not a very good value for the money they want for the stuff. If you really gotta have more, how about 1 gallon of toulene or xylene in 20 gallons of fuel ? That'll work better than the boosters, probably cost less. Is ethanol available in your area ? That might work very well, but you'll need to rejet the carb, or reprogamm the injectors, to make it work right. DF

Use Aviation Fuel if it is not a daily driver. It has 100 octane and is low lead (not recommended with EFI though, lead could clog injectors). You can purchace it a most small airports, you just can't pump it directly into your vehicle. Some people I know, fill a 55 gallon drum then they can pump it as needed into their vehicle.
It run's a little over $2 a gollon here and is less than 1/2 of Cam2 or TurboBlue racing fuel.
