Every Ford I have ever owned had a spacer plate between the engine and trans. Recently I removed my C6 and 351M, since I am building a performance 400 engine, and realized...it's not there! Bought the truck that way, I have heard some had them and some didn't. Motor/trans not original to the truck. I never once had issues with the starter or having to shim it. Is it worth even putting back in?

ALL Fords had that plate it is used to locate the starter and provide dust shielding for the trans.
All I had between my 400/t19 was a piece of stamped sheet metal , is that what you guys are talking about or is there an actual adapter plate on some of them? I'm gonna have to go look at my 400/C6 later to see what's going on.
Yeah that's what I always thought as well. That's why when I removed it and it wasn't there I was kinda taken back a bit since I never had any issues with the teeth meshing.
