3100 miles with fuel data
We’re back home!
Todays data:
Temp - 91*
Wind - 33mph head wind SUCKED *** IN KANSAS
Moving avg - 62mph
Max oil temp - 209*
Max coolant temp - 201*
Max trans temp - 161*
609.9 miles GPS
608.6 odometer
35.9266 gallons
16.97 mpg
Again less pedal an a slower speed were key. With that nasty wind mpg took a dump, EGT oil temp and coolant temps rose if I tried to do 75 into the wind. Also handling sucked ***. So 60-65 and piglet just chugged along. Not a single warning light or any mechanical issues. 3100 total miles avg for the tanks
GPS mileages and hand calculated mpg.
610 miles - moving avg 62mph = 16.9mpg
584 miles - moving avg 64mph = 16.8 mpg
574 miles - moving avg 64mph - 18.52mpg
609 miles - moving avg 62mph - 16.97mpg
555 miles - cityhwy and my daughter and son in law driving avg 14.2. Much heavier foot than me
Overall Im very happy with the results. Someday Ill coil swap the front and that will improve the ride.
The leaf springs didnt seem to hamper the passengers ability to sleep though! 😁
It really doesn't seem to matter to much on mine. One time was winter fuel wit a bottle of the white 911 before I left denver no other additive.
I honestly think 15 mpg for a full size truck and 5 people comfortable with a back full of junk is pretty acceptable
Lol
I wish I took more accurate reports but I just calculated between tanks. I would always completely top off the tank.
Oh yeah I have around 277000 miles 265-16 ats and only mods are a cheaper cold air intake. Ebay or similar.
Single tank MPG measurements are not that accurate...
My Excursion was regularly over 18mpg all stock with 265/75/16 Michelin LTX’s. I’m sure I never saw 18mpg with 325/60/18’s... Eventually, I ran 285/75/16’s on stock wheels and budgeted for 16mpg empty (driving without regard for MPG) and 10mpg towing 12.5k lb Toy Hauler.
After the vegetable oil conversion, all mpg were just estimates because I could not accurately measure the gallons of the high cholesterol fuel I burned. It didn’t help my right foot was not connected to my wallet while burning ‘free fuel’ .
