Hi, I have a troubleshooting question on a 2000 7.3L, fault codes for the entire right side glow plug circuit. Where would you start to troubleshoot? Could it be the Glow Plug Control Module? What would be a common denominator for all 4 errors on one side?
The common denominator for all four codes on one side are 1 - the module itself, 2 - the "feed wire" for the side with the faults and 3 - the valve cover gasket plug. In the plug, you are particularly looking for burnt pins. In the feed wire, it comes off the plug as an #8 gauge, and is then split into four legs before it gets to the plug. Check that splice/split inside the harness (this can be done with continuity checks as well). Also, check the two plugs on the module are seated properly/firmly.
Most of the time, with all codes on one side, it is the module.
Inspect the GPCM connections for damage/oil and see if the wiring to them is solid.
Also inspect underside of the harness that crosses over the driver side valve cover to the 42 pin connector. It can chafe on the VC and cause shorts there.
