Any tips for getting trim on , ordered new set from dennis carpenter with new plastic clips , but I cant get them to stay on, clips seem cheap, not sure what they are supposed to look like as they were all gone.
Is it possible that it's just been painted? Maybe excess paint keeping the nylon piece from slipping into position over the nail heads if I'm thinking of the correct pieces.
Those clips suck. Tape pieces of wax paper under the trim in between the studs while you're trying to get it on, especially anywhere 2 pieces connect and you might have a sharp edge. You still need to be cautious but it'll help protect the paint and allow the trim to slide easier. Once the trim is on it should just pull out. That's how I was shown to do it years ago in the body shop. If the trim fits tight, you might have to use a credit card, or something soft/plastic to lightly pry up on the trim so it comes out. My old boss used to say it also waxed the edge of the trim, he thought it helped save the paint anywhere the trim might rub from bumps.
thanks will try that, seems like the plastic clips just aren't able to snap into trim, I have tried on the bench and it is very difficult. maybe wrong clips not sure what they are supposed to look like
