Carb Rebuild Kit
Hi all- I have a '51 F-1, stock w/ 6cyl flathead. It has a FoMoCo 1 bbl downdraft carb. Apparently, these trucks also came with Chandler-Grove and Holley 1 bbl's. Does anyone know if the carb rebuild kits are common among the three, or brand specific?

The stock carb on the 226 is a Holley 847. I think the originals have the ford script but replacements are available with Holley in the castings. The power valves and vacuum assemblies are near impossible to find so be careful with those - ie no solvents. I use a large slotted Flathead screwdriver to avoid rupturing the valve diaphragm. The best kit in my opinion is from Daytona carbs since I like to rebuild them myself, but Charlie NY over on fordbarn is your friend if you want him to rebuild it. He does fuel pumps also. The 226 is bullet proof if your carb is running strong and the distributor is in good working order (points and vacuum canister)
