Autolite carb rebuild kit source?

I just purchased a 1970 F250 dually flatbed from the local fire department. It only has 39,000 miles on it and has only had 1,000 miles put on it in the past 18 years. It has been stored inside the entire time and everything works great except for the carb which is leaking -- to be expected. (It still runs, it just tries to stall when you give it gas. It has to be floored from a standstill.) I'd like to rebuild the existing carb since everything is factory. How hard is it going to be to rebuild the carb, and will Checker likely have the kit? (I've only rebuilt SU carburators on my British cars. Three years ago I didn't own any American cars. Now I own an Excursion, the 1970 Race Truck and a Jaguar with a Supercharged and fuel injected Ford 302. Went from 8 cylinders total in the garage to 26.

You don't say if it is a 2 or 4 barrel but the Autolite 2100 is a simple carb to rebuild .The 4300 can be a bit tempermental and is not nearly as easy to tune as the 2100 .

Sweet. I took it off the truck tonight and it looks quite simple. I think that will be my weekend project.

I always had luck with holley jets and power valve in that 2100.

Good luck

Just about everybody carries a kit for that carb. Usually under $20.

I found it at Checker yesterday for $14 -- in stock! It took all of an hour from start to finish to remove, rebuild and re-install it. What a difference! Now I just need to adjust the carb a little as it stumbles a tiny bit in the high revs.

I usually start at 1 1/2 turns on the idle/air bleed screws and go from there. Accelerater pumps can be a problem in those carbs ,I have had some trouble with the little diaphram tearing on occasion. Those carbs turn up on alot of AMCs also.
