Just put an FTM-400 under my drivers seat and is plenty loud enough even with the air on high.
DId you just mount the bracket into the floor w/ self-tapping screws? I have an FTM-400 going in as soon as it warms up a bit and I get an antenna mount. Just wanted to make sure there's nothing under there that I have to worry about...

Thanks!
I put some Velcro on the bottom and have it under the seat. It’s fairly cramped with all the seat wiring but it hasn’t moved since I put it in. Full motion on seat.
Last year I was going to install my FTM-400 in my '17 F-350 6.2 xl. Life got in the way. Now I'm on for this spring and have a question. I intend to get the power under the hood and go thru the large grommet on the drivers side. To avoid potential problems with the battery monitoring system I want to get the +12v from the fuse box. There is a spare bolt/lug there and the second bolt has no nut but the screw is identical to the point where +12v enter the fuse box. Does anyone know what thread the screw is so that I can buy the right nut? Since my guess is that it is between 6-32 and 8-32 I'm guessing it is metric.
Need nut for upper screw at right.
If anyone else is interested that nut is M6 x 1.0.
Wanted an easy to reach and view mount but was concerned about it being too obvious to passers by. The dash tray is so hidden and hard to reach that I have never used it and the truck is so high it isn’t visible from the outside either. Anyhow, this friction hinged swing down mount should work for my needs. May need to come up with a sun shade for when the truck is parked but I’ll deal with that later.
Final install waiting for bulk cat6 cable to arrive and RJ12 connector installation.
Head held onto T-Strap with magnets for easy removal. Head position is about a 1/4” above the 12” display top trim piece for easy **** access. T-strap mounted on a friction hinge allows it to be tucked away when not in use.
No issues so far with the location of the radio or anything else, I think the biggest problem I have had is that 2-3 times now the double stick tape I used for the mic extension box has come loose but I always sticks back on again and stays put for 6 or so more months! That being the only problem, I consider it all good! I would put a few small screws into the plastic of the center console but not sure whats behind there.
Good then I won’t be concerned mounting next to the inverter. Unfortunately I had to return my radio and am waiting for a replacement from DX Engineering before I can finish the installation.
Power goes through the firewall via pass-through wires to a BlueSea fuse block. Ground terminates at the ground lug behind the passenger kick panel. Radio is under the driver seat with the speaker angled up. Faceplate is velcro-taped the the dash. Antenna is wired with RG-58 coax and run up through the floor grommet under the driver side carpet and sealed with black RTV. Handhelds are for stow-and-go and multiple end users in addition to my truck if needed.
Easy, clean, can be removed in 5 minutes if need be.
Do you have more information on this console? I have been trying to find something like it to no avail. I have an 08 ranger with a cb, dual band ham, siren system, and exterior lights, and I'm running out of mounting space.
An older thread but I got my radio put in my truck and thought I would share. Im using the bullet point mount for the radio and the bullet proof 3rd brake light mount for the antenna. The antenna is tall but my F450 doesn't fin in my garage, doesn't go in parking garages or in the drive-throughs.
I am interested in the installation of the HAM antenna to the rear of the cab of the pickup. Was wondering if a kit was bought for installation or you determined the parts needed your self.

Here is a link to bullet proof diesel antenna mounts.

Very nice! I just got an FTM-500 and hope to get it installed within the next week or so, time permitting. I am planning a similar mount; thanks for the inspiration!
