It's always the next thing... Now my fuel sender is leaking, which is particularly obnoxious with the tank being inside the cab. The strange part is it's coming through one of the 5 bolts. It seems there should be an O-ring under the head of the bolt, but some are missing.
Anyone know where I can get the O-rings or bolts and the gasket underneath? The hardware is backordered on LMC truck...
The rule of thumb of this era of truck is not to fill the tank to the top. Make sure you have the correct vented cap, this is not a sealed system. What I do is when I'm at a 1/4 tank I put 10 gallons in. Leave room for expansion and don't park on a sidehill with the filler on the down side. Get a new gasket for the sender and change it, quick and easy to do.

You should be able to get the gasket at any of the usual places DC, NPD, Mac's or possibly even your Ford dealer. The correct screws on the other hand are another story. You can buy a sheet of cork/rubber gasket material at NAPA and make your own gasket and they should have some "O" rings also. If you don't have the original screws with the "O" ring groove in them just use some panhead screws with nylon washers.
If you buy a sheet of rubber from an auto parts store make sure it is compatible with Gasoline some of that stuff is not and will expand and not seal after a while.
