The xlt one is hard and has a crappy feel. Not a huge deal but if I get a good deal I would swap. I just don't like the look of a wrap or cover.
I don't blame you, it was the only thing I really wanted to change when I bought my SD. My replacement Lariat wheel came from another SD, but my understanding is that F150 and SD wheels are identical. Many people have done Raptor wheel swap, so that should tell you F150 to SD wheel swap works (since Raptor wheel fits on both).
It's an easy swap, assuming you don't have trouble with popping out airbag which is a very first step. I know I and many other people struggled with it. That's something you can try doing now. Once it's popped, it's really quick and easy - you disconnect airbag plug and put airbag away. You unscrew the bolt and disconnect controls plug, and take steering wheel out. Screw new wheel in, connect controls plug, then airbag plug, then push airbag in and you are done.
