Hoping somebody can help me with this. I’m trying to figure out if the rocker panels on the excursion are the same as the crew craft super duties. I know the doors are a different shape. At the top. But what about the rocker panels? Has my truck came from Florida and it’s got a typical cancerous spots on it. And I would like to get them fixed so I can put a amp research lowering step on it so my mom can get in and out of it easier.
Also, at the top of the forum page, there's a button "Search this forum". If you click on that, you can search the entirety of this forum for "rocker panel", which will yield more reading than any of us can do.
There are multiple sources for rocker panels, and I've found that Amazon has the best price (and many times free shipping). the doors themselves are not a different shape. The second row doors of the X are longer than a super duty, but the fronts are the same. you can either get Excursion specific rears and super duty fronts, or order a one piece that "fits" the Excursion. These are ones that may work for you, depending on what you have going on. Inners are not available (to my knowledge) off the shelf. 18 gauge sheet metal welded in works just fine in most cases. Also, here's a search I did that will yield some good threads on work that folks have done here.
The rocker panels ARE NOT all the same as the super duties. Front driver and passenger are the same. Rear doors are not. The super duty stuff is the same shape, just too short. There is only one place that sells complete rocker specific to the excursion. https://www.etsy.com/shop/SEMichiganAutomotive . They have full length inner and outer. In fact I ordered a full set of inner and outer from them and fed ex delivered today. Very high quality. This is one of the outers. I put it on the running board to make sure it was actually long enough.
I didn’t think there was a way to search the excursion section alone. I had a feeling they were different shaped and I didn’t know about the bottoms if they were the same length or just shorter on top. So it sounds like I’m gonna have to use that eBay source to get them. Yeah they got a love how they make the excursion a little more complicated but we had a live the king of SUVs.
The out rocker sections are the same. The inner is different. You could use the crewcab one but I believe you need to add a little length. The dog leg, the lower section that transitions from the rocker to the c pillar is unique to the excursion. Nothing comes close to that. I tried the extra cab dog leg but had to do extensive modification to it and then fiberglass and shape it further to make it look decent. A real PITA. Probably the biggest killer for excursions.
Yeah took pictures last night. Mes fronts are decent except for pinch welds but the rear c pillar on drivers side needs to be fabricated Mes begging to think. Body shops love to mark up labor on that. But can’t do a amp-research drop step install till it’s fixed Mes don’t think.

your passenger side was like both of mine were. I was able to save from the raised circle section and up and just rebuild the bottom. That driver side is bad. You are pretty much going to need a nice southern donor and have those sections cut off and then weld in place on yours.
The dog legs are no longer around anywhere that I have found. Only option is to custom fab or find a good one out of a junkyard which if rust is a problem in your area it will be almost impossible to find something locally. There is also some confusion about rockers for the rear doors on the excursions. The inner and outer rockers ARE NOT the same as the super duties. The inner and outer rear door rockers for super duties are too short.
Yeah even Maaco said they were going to have to sublet that part of it to a professional fabrication shop. But honestly I was surprised at the price for their best paint job with all the rust repair. Only $6,030.75 ont best paint service they offer
Yeah, that's a bit of fab work there. @Greenscobie86 did quite a bit of work like this. Great thread, but here's a link to the part you'd be most interested in:

Mes have debated if Mes should do a dedicated thread for Mes 2000 Ford Ecursion Limited Diesel 4x4 in Oxford White & Pueblo Gold “Yuki”. Like with updates & progress.
Not much yet but can be a start. Maybe post photos of Mes quote for rust repair sand repaint. Doesn't include several parts like a fiberglass functional ram air hood that also has heat extraction features too. Replacement winch bumpers painted to match or even a remanufactured stock style bumpers. Haven’t decided yet honestly. Want to add a super duty grill and cab lights as well as euro light look. So clear lenses:
here is the thread I did on mine https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...hopefully.html
One mistake I did was rely too much on the "structural epoxy". Don't rely on it for the structural part, definitely weld also.
