So I have a 410 out of a 66 Parklane and I'm trying to figure out what transmission can be bolted to it. It currently has a Merc-o-matic which is in desperate need of replacement. Now I've been told a c6 will bolt right up with no concern. I've also been told if I bolt a c6 up to it I'll have to change the flywheel, starter etc. So what can and cannot bolt up to it and what needs to be done when changed? Thank you
Read post 16 here. You may already have a C6. All automatics of that era were Ford-o-matic, Merc-o-matic or Cruise-o-matic. The MX, FMX, and C6 were all called the same thing. Your flexplate is unique to the 410/428 and should work for any C6 that has the FE pattern.
