Crazy engine oil dipstick design

On my 2019 6.2L. Never seen such a crazy shaped dipstick. Felt I was going to break it trying to get it inserted. Is there a particular way to insert it or just shove it in?

It often works well to rotate the dipstick as you insert it. Don't force it but let it turn.

Worst dipstick I've ever seen. Pain in the a** to put back in. But as Bob mentions, it does help to let it rotate while inserting.

I've found that by pinching the stick about 2 inches from the tube I can shuffle it in quickly w/o binding.

Easy there, this is a family forum!

There’s lots of things I miss about my 04 6.0. The dipstick is one of them. The no mess oil filter mounted on top of the engine is another. The dipstick on this 6.2 definitely has a mind if it’s own. I just let it find it’s own way with using too much force. It seems to be happier that way.

WTF? Check oil with the engine running?

I feel like the dipstick on the 6.7 is like 4’ long.

She was actually checking the trans fluid. The engine oil (just to the left) as also long as hell.

Yea a lot of older diesel trucks had 2 add lines. One off and one with engine running. There was a time when shutting some of these engines down in winter was rarely done.
