Pressurized 460
How well do the stock efi 460s do with some boost? I got a 1990 efi 460 and a 5 speed for my ole dentside, and I was thinking it needs some boost in its life after I get it running..
I already plan to megasquirt it, so anything to do with tuning is a non issue, I'm not gonna mess around with the factory garbage.. I'm not talking a crazy amount of boost, I was figuring around 7-8lbs and intercooled.. I'm thinking a Garrett gt4294 would be a pretty good match, can find them used pretty cheaply..
I'm not wanting to go wild, just have a fun truck to beat around in, I might also put a cam in the truck.. I know that I could make a lot of hp N/A, but I'm doing this more of a budget build, I can weld and fabricate.. I have researched this some, and I haven't found much on how much boost people run with these motors with a stock bottom end..

There have been documented cases of high teens for boost on stock 460's so they handle it pretty well with good fuel and a good tune. Your low boost shouldn't be a problem on pump gas.
FYI, we offer plug and play MS3 based ECU's for this application that comes in a stock ECU case so it fits in the stock ECU hanger and uses the stock harness and such. It's available batch fire (PiMPx) or sequential EFI (PiMPxs). Your harness is currently configured for batch fire so you'd have to add 6 injector wires to the harness to be able to run sequentially.

Definitely interested in that! PM me prices.. I would do sequential, I'm not a fan of batch fire.. I was just gonna do the megasquirt connector, which I don't mind.. these harnesses are pretty simple and straightforward, and I don't mind doing some wiring..
I had thought they would probably be pretty good..,most things are if you have a good tune, that's more important than any trick parts you throw at it in my opinion.. I'm not wanting to go beyond the threshold of pump gas at all.. I would definitely setup a knock sensor, because sometimes I'm really not sure there is a difference between premium and regular at some of these gas stations I stop at lol.. idk what the threshold of regular is, I'd like to find out 😁 lol
