Just put on my EV2 gauges today and got everything working. I take it out and I can only get about 18psi of boost. What should it be? The boots are dirty and I'm working my way thru the list of things to change.
Well my truck isn't completely stock. I have an AIS intake, wicked wheel, 4" exhaust and FRx. I was able to pull 21 PSI going uphill with a fully loaded truck camper and towing a four wheeler. I'm not sure if it would have pulled more PSI if I could have got the RPM's up but I was happy with my numbers.
Well im not competely stock. i installed the 6637 filter and 4" exhaust this week. I just wanted to see if everything was ok with me getting 18 psi. I have read about people getting up to 22 but not sure how you do it.
Call me Captain Buzzkill, but what in the world is the fascination with higher boost numbers? Seriously.....
The trade off from power gained over the extremely high drive pressure and shortened turbocharger life simply aren't worth the risks involved.
To put it plainly, you're not gaining any power at all by increasing the boost using the stock turbocharger. Also, as you've found out, the air filter and larger exhaust do NOTHING short of change the way the vehicle sounds.
