A 97 PS with now 334,202 miles -from this morning drive of 105 miles. One set of glowplugs, one camshaft sensor, numerous tires, starter, batteries, no oil leaks, does not smoke(except when she is cold ) and a wife that just does not understand the love
From: Canterbury - A beautifu but overpriced rural setting in central NH
My neighbor runs a construction business and has a 1990 pre-PowerStroke Ford Diesel. He has about 200,000 miles on it, but those miles are at the hands of 2 dozen different employees who tend to "ride 'er hard and put 'er away wet." Other than a couple changes of glow plugs over the years, it has required nothing besides fuel and when they remember it, oil.
My own 2001? 40,700, but am headed out Monday to work on that number. I have a route from NH to Daughter's place in VA all mapped out which should cover the normal 750 miles in about 1300 miles, most of them by local and forest roads. I figure 4 days to cover that should be about right. Will be toting Lance 11'6" camper and pulling 4x8 utility trailer for whole distance.
My '00 has about 104,000 with a recent clutch, 2nd set of tires, 2nd front brake pads, and second set of batteries (originals only lasted about 70,000). No problems known. Hope to keep it about 250-300,000 before retiring or trading it in.
1995 F-250 with only 148,000 on it. Everything under hood looks clean and almost like new. After looking aver parts & numbers looks like almost everything is original. Trouble - None for me and previous owner; only operator error. Changed out the thermostat this weekend & broke off one of those darn alloy bolts inside pump holder.
I have a 99 buit in 8/98, and it has 61,520. 49.5K of those were done to Canada, eh. I bought mine on eBay in July of 02, and the balance I've put on in Cal. Runs great
i have never owned a powerstroke, but are you guys being honest, why have I heard horror stories about injectors and stuff being so costly to fix?Convince me that I would do alright buying a powerstroke with high miles(100,000 or so) What about 97's as compared to newer, I have also heard of troubs with 99's and it seems there are alot of them out there. Lets here it guys.
