Hi Listor,

I would recommend at least a pyrometer before adding tuning.

Glowshift doesn't have a great reputation from what I’ve heard. But I’m sure there are lots of people running them. Better than nothing if the budget is tight. I used some cheapies from Amazon or eBay on my dad’s truck since he wasn’t willing to spend much on gauges. Personally I’m running autometer but a lot of people like the ISSPRO too.

By the way, your link doesn’t work since it links to your cart instead of the gauge page.

I had to make budget choices during my rebuild. I chose the Glow Shift Max Tow green/black. So far they have been flawless. I liked the fact that they show both an analog gauge along with at a glance digital. I have EGT, Trans temp and Oil temp on the A pillar, in the 650 panel I have Fuel Pressure, Coolant temp, and boost.

Something to think about...if you get a four hole pillar pod over the three hole it makes using you sun visor a pita. That's why I chose the three hole pod.

I can’t comment on the package as I have auto meter gauges. This winter I installed a third gauge into a 3 gauge pillar, before it was 2 gauge pillar. Not a big deal but I noticed on tight twisty roads the 3 (I’m sure 4) gauge pillar did hinder visibility a bit.

Looks like the the hard part will be deciding which gauges the put in there.

I enjoy my center windshield mount quad gauge pod. Not many folks here seem to have them but I like it a lot. Ive got ISSPRO gauges in mine.

For a little more money you can get good gauges that will last a long time. In fact, I’ve yet to see an ISSPRO EV2 gauge failure. But, I’ve thrown a pile of glowshift gauges in the trash.

Unless you are running an OBD2 monitor like Scangauge2 or an app like Torque Pro, you’ll want to monitor Boost and Trans Temp. You can’t monitor EGT or Fuel Pressure with OBD2, so additional sensors and gauges are needed for these.

I prefer 4-gauge setup for auto trucks and 3-gauge for ZF6 trucks. The over the mirror pod is a PITA to keep mounted (double stick tape and the SUN don’t get along). They always seems to fall down eventually. A lot of people think the a-pillar will be obstructive, but I find people quickly get used to it.

I cant live without gauges. Feels like flying blind to me. I’ve used SG2 for years and seldom get in a 7.3 without grabbing it. For $160 retail (as little as $120 on sale), this is a great tool that you can use on almost ANY OBD2 vehicle. Displays any (4) PID’s at a time and reads/clears most DTC’s that set SES light).

I agree. The 3 gauge pillar can obstruct your view a bit on curvy roads. But I also feel it is worth the inconvenience.

Im running a 3 pillar with boost, fuel, and my Hydra control. And also an old CTS Insight digital display for EGT and some pcm channels.
