Wats up guys n gals its been some years since I been here life took over with 3 kids. I would like to upgrade my alternator from the stock 75 amp to a 130 amp on my 94 flareside. Does anyone know who builds better alternator charging systems n the wires for the upgrade along with fuse . My alternator uses 3 bolts to hold it in place planning to run an electrical dual fan upgrade. thanks in advance for the help everyone. stay healthy from this covid 19.
You can make the wiring for the bigger alternator yourself. I sourced a 130 amp alt. from a local salvage yard for like 30 bucks. I believe there was a write up on this forum that laid out exactly what you could source an alt. from and exactly what the wiring needed to look like, and that's what I followed when I installed mine.
Power*******s for the harmess, make it yourself or as said above, go to the JY and get that '97-03 V8 harness. For big power, find a JY ambulance E350-450. It will have a big alt in it so that might be a source. I found a 220A alt in a 2006 E350 gasser ambulance but somebody already got the harness.
Is the 1995-98 F350 7.3 alternator physically larger? I;ve wondered. One caught my eye as being the same configuration as my '94 F150. I know the wiring is the same so it would be plug and play there. I suspect the bolt spacing is wider or something? I've never looked into it. I've swapped other style 3G's and those 130's are actually physically larger than the lighter duty ones.
