Broke the front driveshaft and having a really tough time finding the right part. Rock Auto lists 25 1/8" or 30 13/16" - but mine is 51 1/2" long (with the slip yoke fully compressed.) Does that sound original? Can anyone else measure theirs?
Local Driveline ship quoted me $450 for a new one and the guy said even more than that to repair the one I brought him.
Found a diagram on here that listed #4605 or 4602 but neither come up with any matches that I've found. Any other ideas?
This is from the Ford Master Parts catalog:
For a '77 F250 4WD 133" wheelbase without full time 4WD before S/N Y40,001 (high boy) the front axle drive shaft is P/N D3TZ-4602-W
The specs are 1310 U-joint on one end, 16 tooth splined shaft on the other. Diameter 2-1/2" Length 50-1/32" Ford measures driveshafts that have a spline on one end from the end of the spline to the edge of the hole for the u-joint, not the centerline. This is the inboard edge, not the edge to the outside.
I did a parts search and was surprised:
Green Sales, Cincinnati, OH has 2 (800) 543-4959.
Any chance you can see which slip/splined yoke I need? Front DS to Front Axle.....
Sure.
Yoke P/N C5TZ-4841-F
Spec's:
1310 U-joint
Length: 6" measured from end of spline to C/L of U-joint
1-3/4" OD
1-3/16" Dia at tip of spline
1-3/8" Dia at base of spline
16 splines
Green Sales also has these, 13 of them.
It won't work. That one takes a 1330 u-joint, larger than the 1310 yours takes.
This might work, it's got a 1310 u-joint and has a 1.375" diameter 16 spline shaft. I'd call and see if they can give you more info. https://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p23...lin.html#photo
