Pleasantly surprised.

This morning while flipping pancake size hunks of dirt and grease off the Ford, I found lots of colors. Green, yellow, and reddish orange. I think the value covers were plain silver.
I should have been doing this crap years ago!

I'm a novice here. So, my idea was to clean off all the loose stuff and then soak it down with degreaser, rinse afterwards. Any thoughts?

I have no intentions of using this motor but was going to pressure wash it before removing it and maybe sometime in the future see if I can get it running. I would think if you scrubbed it well with de-greaser and a 3M scotch bright pad that you could paint over that..

I am very unhappy with my paint job on my newly assembled engine. Well it was newly assembled. I power washed it and then painted it with Daytona Yellow (similar to original truck Y Blocks but slightly brighter). Not sure if it wasn’t clean enough or what but in several places the paint has come off. Of course it didn’t do it any good sitting out in the weather for a year and a half at the bodyshop. I think a good scotch padding using primer may have provided a better adhesion.
