Idle surge
Anyone else have a surge with their 5.0 when warming up? Definitely hear it with an aftermarket exhaust, tach shows about a 25 rpm up and down. 65,000 well maintained miles

Mine high-idles on cold start and there is a little fluctuation. Don't know the exact RPM though.

Could try plugs, they're cheap enough. Manual says they're good until 100K but I do mine at 50.

Sounds like a plug might be going bad.

I beleive it was bad fuel🤔. How do we delete a thread we start?

I think that Mods can though I'd leave it - someone else could have the same problem, search for this and try out fresh fuel before diving into anything else.

Glad it was an easy fix

I'm happy it was an easy fix too. Leaving the thread up is useful for someone having a similar problem.

Glad you found the problem, and thanks for posting your findings! Many don't.

Folks will get some use from this thread later . . . I bet that gas station is still in business, and others like it.

We’ll let the thread stay, as others who are searching a similar problem may find it helpful.

I always try to buy from stations that sell Top Tier fuels and stations that are newer so that the tanks are less likely to have much contaminants in them. A guy who drives a fuel truck once told me to avoid filling up when a tanker truck is filling the ground tanks, as that stirs up contaminants from the bottom of the tanks.
