I think I may have a bad fuel pump but not for sure. With the line disconected from the high pressure pump and when I first turn the key on, a small amount of gas comes out but not very fast. Whith the line disconnected before the pump no gas comes out when I turn the key on. Should the high pressure pump stay running to try to pressure the system? May this be a bad pump or regulator?
Thanks
It sounds like you may be suffering from a power or ground problem. Clean the battery terminals as well as the terminal at the hot side of the starter solenoid. Also clean the quick disconnect found on the negative battery cable near the terminal. If no better results from the low pressure pump in the tank(s), check ALL the fuses and any relays or circuit breakers that deal with anything remotely concerned to any engine operations as detailed in the owners manual. Just so you know how this system works a 'lil, when you first turn the key to the run position, the computer turns on the fuel pumps for a short time in order to prime the system, then, when you turn the key to the start position, the computer re-energizes the fuel pumps due to "seeing" that the key is in the start position. By this time, the computer should "see" that the engine is running because of spark output and idle speed above cranking speed and continue to keep the fuel relays energized until spark is interrupted either by failure of any ignition component or turning the key to the off position. You must wait at least 10 seconds between key cycles to test the "priming" portion of the system.
