fuel delivery problem

Hi all,

I have a 94 bronco 5.0 L 317,000 miles I replaced the fuel pump 6 months ago and was running great, one day it died, no fuel pressure at the rail. When i turn on the key the pump pressures up and shuts off like like normal but no pressure at the rail. I dissconnected the fuel line at the up side of the filter gas poured out, i left it dissconnected and turned the key on and the pump runs and pressures up and shuts off and a little gas spills out of the fuel line. Any ideas? pressure regulator? pressure switch? bad pump?

Thanks FBM

Make sure you have enough fuel in the tank. If the line is off at the fuel filter...and no fuel comes out after start up cycle, it sounds like the fuel pump took a dump. There is a way to bypass the fuel pump relay by grounding the fuel pump lead on the EEC connector under the hood. I can't get to my manuals, but it is readily available online. Just "Google" bypassing the fuel pump relay and you'll find it. Probably right here on FTE!! If you get no fuel after bypassing....either the pump came apart internally or you have a blockage in the tank pickup. I don't think it is the inertia switch...because the pump turns on with the key start cycle. Good Luck!!

I suspect the fuel pump.

Did you get a new pump from Ford or the cheap from Rockauto?

Get the one from Ford. Don't try to just replace the pump and not the body. There's a valve in the body that fails and can't be replaced. The whole body needs to be replaced with the correct Ford pump.

Then you're sure to have another 150,000 miles before it needs to be replaced again.
