Hey all, even spending my time over on the 87-96 threads.
Built an 88 4x4 and looking for a new project.
Have my eye on a 2002 F-150 reg cab step side 4x4 xlt manual trans
185 KMs
Stock everything
Clean truck
Not sure if 4.6 or 5.4
Wants $6K
Do not see many 5speed especially in a XLT
Really not sure if this is good value or not ?
Love the look of these little rigs.Should be lots of parts at wreckers to gather upgrades.
Buy or don’t buy ?
No manual trans from the factory in an F150 behind the 5.4. So, definitely a 4.6 if totally stock.
I personally think the the price is a bit steep, but I’ve seen 2WD RCFS 4.6s for more than that here around Houston, so not alarming—I would pay those prices. Obviously haggle down and see where you go.
I picked up my 2001 F150 4.2/5spd with 24.5k miles for $5300 so I would say that's a little high, especially since the current situation means no one is moving vehicles very quickly. Are you needing to tow a lot? If so get the auto as that will enable you to tow more than 3000 lbs
