So long story but to make it short here it goes....Bought new wheels and tires for my 79 f250, bought wheel studs from autozone because orielys didnt have them that day. Went to autozone to picked them up and got to work. OEM size is 1/2x20 well out of 16 studs they snuck in 3 9/16. Well just jamming to get the job done didnt realize it till i had installed them. They reamed the hub holes out obviously and cant get 1/2x20s that would fill the hole. So i up sized all of them to 9/16x18 i dont mind that there bigger but i like to keep it OG and run what it came with. Now im running dodge studs on a ford 😠. So heres the dilemma....I beat the first 16 in with a 4lber witch was a SOB....Bought a 20 ton press for doing the front. Pressed all them in they looked good, hubs looked good no cracks splits or stress marks. After looking i geuss you should drill the hole larger first which i didnt anyone see a issue with not drilling first? To late now all is installed just asking for knowledge next time......Sorry for the long post
sounds exactly the same I know the new 9/16 are .625 knurl dorman part# 610-419. Not positive on the originals will have to find one and mic it.I do know that the 1/2x20s i bought were .608 knurl dorman part#610-279. Did notice on the front hubs it did push some shavings out when i imstalled the 9/16. Out of all the work on my vehicles first time doing studs
