Engine removal tips 223 3 speed
Hi everyone,
What’s the best approach to removing the 223 and trans as a whole unit? I already have the front clip off. Where I be lifting the motor from? I was planning to just wrap strap all around it and lift it out with my overhead hoist.
As far disconnecting the motor. Is it just 4 motor mount bolts, unhook shifter? I’m guessing there a slip yoke in the tranny that will just slide out.
thanks

I took the valve cover off and put two of the head bolts thru a chain to lift it. Ford had some special lifting attach. that went under the manifold in a couple of places. If you have a wiper motor on it I would advise removing it as it is just sitting waiting to cause trouble. I have never pulled the engine and tranny together. That engine is quite long all by itself.
