Hello all, I am looking to replace the shocks on my 1994 E150 Club Wagon RB 2wd. I am going to be installing a set of the Moog CC880 springs at the same time (about 1.5" lift?). I have been looking for a good set of shocks for the van, but haven't found anything that shows to fit online. I have tried looking for offerings from Fox and Bilstein. Fox shows an option for the 94 E350, will these work for the 150?
Or does anybody have a part number for anything known to fit these E150s?
If that Moog part number is called for fitting the E150 chassis then shocks shouldn't be difficult to find. In my experience the E150's tend to use different springs than the E250's & E350's especially of your year. ;Wire diameter, coil OD and as you mention installed height. Double check those parameters before getting too deep into this.
Shocks shouldn't be a tough fit---RockAuto's catalog shows a gaggle of them in all price ranges.
As JWA mentioned, shocks are easily sourced. Bilstein shocks are my first choice as they are well made and the ride of my previous 2 vans is noticeably different. I installed rear Bilstein's in my newest van. Bilstein's and Michelin tires are my choice.
I have purchased all my Bilstein shocks on Amazon. Have you called or contacted Bilstein directly? It would seem odd if you cannot find Bilstein shocks for your van.
On the springs, I'm not 100% sure on the vehicle they are intended for. But from reading on several forums, people have regularly been using them on the E150 vans for a mild lift.
Looking directly on Bilstein's website, I am finding front and rear shocks in the B6 series. Are these good options? Online I see a lot of people talking about or installing the 5100 series, how do those compare to the B6 series? Do either option stand out from one another in any way?
Since you have a little bit of lift involved, the stock spec'd shocks may not work. You might be better asking over at the Expedition Portal forum in the 2wd/4wd van section.
I know Bilstein does offer an option for the van, but it is for the stock height suspension. I'm not sure if they have enough travel to allow for roughly 1.5" of lift. I sent Bilstein an email to see if they had any insight. They said that even with the lift the shocks that are the stock replacements would be the best option, but are unable to confirm they will fit due to the modifications to the suspension. Just trying to decide if I should give those a shot and hope they're long enough or if I should try to find something longer.
