Bought new tail gate molding , it was missing from my orignal tail gate , its not an after market ,,question is the top molding suppose to be longer than the tail gate ? The bottom is even but my top piece is to long on passenger side as the are for handle is center and the left side lines up even but not the right side,,bought the molding from Dennis Carpenter
Yes that's messes up. it should be exactly the same length as your bottom piece . I'm sure it is but if it's not it's your tailgate.
Normally DC fits pretty well, I bought their XLT molding that fits the same place as yours and it fits perfect so I know they know the correct length. I'd call them.

His tailgate is an OEM original, so the only thing it could be is a defective part!! But yeah DC is normally a good part supplier so I would call them and show them the pics. I'm sure they will send you a new one replacement part.

Sent them pictures today , bottom fits great , just the upper is off , of course its all disassembled for paint , and being an orignal tail gate not an aftermarket , I tend to agree that its the molding that is off , if it had been just a little I would live with it but ita quite a bit
