BRAP noise on startup
Hello all, i have a 2006 ford expedition xlt money pit edition. On start up i occasionally (5-10 times a week) get a strange brap noise like a deep high rate thumping noise, sometimes it lasts a second and sometimes 1- 3 seconds. I thought it might have been the blower for the ac going bad so i made a point to make sure it was turned off before i started the truck but the noise still occurs. I replaced the old worn out serpentine belt and the noise stopped for about week, but that must have been a coincidence because the noise still happens. Any thoughts?

Check your idler pulley and friends. May have a loose pulley that straightens up once the engine starts and runs a second. The temporary fix replacing the belt points in that direction. Also not sure if you have a mechanical fan or electric but check the blades. Not sure if the water pump makes any noises like that if its going bad. Anything up front like alternator, ps pump, crank pulley can be the culprit.
