Definitely an interesting truck, I don't know the answers to all the questions being asked but I do like the looks of the entire package and love the sound of the solid lifters.
From what I understand the 360hp 352 FE got its performance from an open air filter, 4 brl carb, aluminum intake, better heads-smaller chambers=10.6.1 compression and a hot solid lifter cam. Plus the cast headers. Pretty simple, but while doing my research on rebuilding my 352 you quickly learn you can gain ci's fairly cheap. The 352 block holds back the over bore, then you start looking for a 360/390. Then you just go with a 460...ha! All ya gotta do is
With the relative frailty of some of the components and scarcity of replacement parts, it seems, to me, anyway, that trying to pump 400 hp through MH running gear is a recipe for disaster. Am I missing something?
M-H running gear is heavier duty than you might think. All the broken parts we see are usually from hard off road use, and lack of maintenance. I put my F-1 stake bed truck together with the intention to drive it. With the blown flathead in it, I could easily lift the front tires off the ground, and I never broke a thing! The next test will be the Ardun OHV conversion that's going in my F-5 M-H dump truck.

What do you think your blown flathead puts out for hp Chuck? 200ish? Can you adjust your boost by overdriving or underdriving it with pulleys? I've never researched a flatty blower. Lucky you have a ohv conversion, that alone is worth more than the F5 MH.
That particular one makes around 300 HP. I can build them to make more, but then you have to worry about it coming apart. The thing with superchargers, is that it comes on suddenly! When people see the action, and hear it, they assume there is a killer big block in it. It probably wouldn't wheelie with a heavy big block in it, though. Well, maybe if the big block made enough HP to overcome it's weight it would, but then the running gear would definitely grenade!

That's what happened with that blown "puller" truck you built several years ago, wasn't it? - I loved that one! Here's a picture of a blown Flathead powered '40 Coupe, owned by an older guy I got to know pretty well as a teenager. He claimed it pulled 357 HP on the dyno. The car was featured in several car mags in the 50's. He took it to the drags a few times - never blew the engine that I heard of, but usually had to tow home with broken drive train parts. Lots of interesting "stuff" under that hood - I'm familiar with a lot of it, but not all. - Bob
