I have an injector that sticks until the truck warms up or you kinda get on it a little. After reading up it seems to be a common sign of needing to do injectors. I will do the glow plugs and wiring harnesses and all the injectors at the same time to because this is my daily driver work truck.
I am a little confused about the injectors I need. Depending on if its a California truck or not and a possibly mentioned from one thread depending on the exact build date. I have learned that the pcm is specific to the injectors so I thought that some where I would be able to find a thread that said if you have x pcm you have Y injectors.
I have an MLe1 pcm. What injectors do I have? Is there a site with this information? Is there another way to figure out which injectors I have without removing the valve cover?
Check behind the lift pump and see if you have a 3" or so diaphram. As far as I know those were only used on the California split shot trucks. Should be black and hard to miss under the turbo pedestal. Also as I recall, the engine sticker on the valve cover is supposed to be blue (california engine) instead of black (federal engine).
Look into shimming your current injectors, you can save a buck if you don't plan on going with bigger injectors.
Family member who works on cars knows someone who will rebuilds them cheap for him. He has a set he will sell me and then let me return my cores after I change them out so my truck. I'm getting them cheap and with no downtime and family member who will help me change injectors and glow plugs on the weekend so I'm going to take the basic rebuilt injectors he already has at his shop and just be happy. Besides its a work truck and I just want it to last a long time and be reliable.
