Larry,
I wouldn't necessarily call my project a pro-street, but more hot rod truck. I have a 48 F-1 which I am patterning after the 1993-95 F-150 Lightning. Basically, a light truck with big engine and suspension mods. I have a 427 cube, 450 hp Ford Racing Windsor crate motor with a 4R70 auto trans, EFI, and other stuff. The front suspension is a 1989 Dodge Dakota IFS, the rear suspension is Ford 9 inch in a custom housing on TCI parallel leaf spring kit. Wilwood disk brakes all around. The frame is stock except for the modifications to strengthen it and add the Dakota suspension up front and move the gas tank to behind the axle.
I could never be on the "dark side" as I am a Ford guy from waaaay back and could never bring my self to put in a motor other than a Ford. Some on here who do restorations, might consider me on the dark side because my truck would never qualify as "stock" except for the body.
My philosophy is this: It's your truck, you modify it as you have need.
Digging through old post and this caught my interest. I ran a true Pro-Street car in the 80's , Blown, caged and narrowed. I will be done with my 53 sometime
this year after a 7 year build. Narrowed with a ton of 1 off parts. de-tuned for the street at just over 800 hp on pump gas, no extra power adder. It is
way to the dark-side but no wheelie bars, parachute or blower so I won't consider it pro-street by todays standards. I wanted a flat out beast that leaves
you without socks when I drive by. Perhaps " Street Machine Class "...that's probably how I'll label it. Follow the build on Instagram 53ZZ502 if
interested.
Probably a month away from the motor being fitted, there is a dyno video on the Instagram link, the
printed out results made me feel as I did when we had our first child : )

SLICKLER1, thank you.
There are always going to be faster, just don't want one identical.
I should have invested in a laser optic cutter as much as I have had to
have done on making mounts and brackets. I did learn to use a 3D printer
for some cool logos. The hood emblem will be a mix of the 2
Quick update on my Darkside build. Heading into year 8, but enjoying the journey. Cab is back on after designing the tanks on the cad then waiting 5 months for them to be made in IL.
Interior should be great, TMI did great on the console and door panels. Once firewall is completed I'll start figuring out the 2 pc drive shaft and order a C&R radiator/compressor/fan set up.
Hopefully fire it up again this year on the truck and not the Dyno. More updates on instagram @53zz502. Misfitfabs is doing a piece as well and it should be here in Feb...that will be another 6 month pc. from design to production.
The pc where the arrow points comes out as does the diagonal support, There will be no bed, hence the use of another set of fenders flipped to act as a a tub but looking original.
I added some access points in the cab as well to do R&R if the LS pumps go out in the future.
There will be no bed so you can see the engineering once powder coated
Quick update, after 108 months from the start, the Wicked 53 is on the ground. Not finished, but on the ground. Follow the build on Instagram @53ZZ502.
This is truly a Darkside Build.
Darkside build continues Like Arbys...we have the Meats !
Doing a 10-12 year build on the Dark Side / Pro Street eliminates lots of favorable comments.
I am still glad I'm building it my way, and dared to be different so long ago. There are so many one off's on
this build. Just finishing up on some fabrication loose ends, then onto paint and body. If you have questions
I may have the answer. reach out here, facebook F502 Wicked 53 or insta 53ZZ502 Have a great Christmas as we hit 2026 Not sure how many times these have been on and off the truck, except they are now 10 years old 0 miles, and will need replaced when I start rolling Static build, not on air, digging the stance for sure
