Has anyone tried one of the carpet Dash Mats on their 65/66 standard or custom cab truck?
The 66 cab I am grafting to my 65 has the padded dash, in typical condition. A new dash pad is not in the works right now for $ reasons, so I was curious about the carpet mat style covers.
Hi rdixiemiller, I have a standard cab in my '65. I wanted it to be a little warmer in winter/cooler in summer. So, I took a long /wide enough piece of paper board and marked/cut that for a pattern. Then I looked in the basement at my "collection." I found a pleasant piece of brown rug. I used the paperboard pattern, marked the rug with a magic marker. Then cut out the rug. I backed out the screws on the dash, slid the rug undernearh, pushed screws through the rug. Tightened down screws. Purr-fect.

Why not take it one step further for that truly custom look? Like this but in a pickup instead of a van. It's a good look. Well, people will give a lot of looks, at least.
I’ve used them on my old trucks, if for no other reason than to prevent heating and cracking the padded dash covers. I wouldn’t be without one. Relatively cheap, and with great fit and appearance, and many color choices, I’d not bother trying to make my own. Took about three weeks to get at my local auto parts store, after I ordered and prepaid for it

No need to wait, but pardon my pollen-encrusted windshield:
Comes with cut-outs for the defroster outlets, but not for the speaker, which is not really necessary, music easily passes through, as it is fairly thin.

Outstanding! I hope it looks that good!
I think I ordered a Dash Mat brand.
That’s what mine is. They give you plenty of Velcro tape to attach, just make sure to let it sit up on your dash over a couple sunny days, to do away with the wrinkles and let it form itself to the dash’s contours, as it does comes folded up in a box.
