I have a 2000 Ranger, about 2 weeks ago while driving, the ABS light and check engine light came on. Also the speedometer doesn't work, and the transmission is having a hard time knowing when to shift. (it sounds like it can't decide if it wants to be in overdrive or not) So what do you folks think??? Please let me know!
You may want to go to Autozone or another place that will read codes and find out the code that is causing the Check Engine Light. This will help you get a clearer answer on the problem. Be sure to let us know what the code is, I'm sure someone here can look it up.
Sounds like the VSS (vehilce speed sensor), its on top of the rear, one bolt and an electrical connection. This is a common problem and everything you listed runs off of information from the VSS.
