My 1979 F100 is shaking violently when braking. It is random. Might brake 9 or 10 times with no problem, then it happens and it is violent. Brakes have been inspected with no known issues. Help!!
Yes it could , I have seen idler arms shake randomly when worn out and braking could cause it ,,if rotors are not warped , then there has to be a problem in front end somewhere else ,,of course the king pins might cause some issue but unsure if it would cause the shaking ,,look at the front strut bushings as well
I would start with the steering like was said but how old are the shocks?
When braking a load is shifted to the front and the wheels could be bouncing.
I have seen this more with straight axles with leaf springs and hitting a bump at speed.
The wheel starts bouncing as the shock can not keep it under control till you slow down to almost a stop so the wheel stops bouncing.
