hey guys I've been looking at parking brakes for my 73 f250.
I want to go with a transmission mounted parking brake but I haven't found to much info on them. The kicker is I don't want the rotor style (to open to things kicking up off the road) I want to get the drum style
The only one I've found is a ZF parking brake but my question is will that fit on my C6. Because I'm about to get annoyed here soon from lack of info and just invent one from a range rover e-brake assembly that mounts off their t-box cause I have a few laying around
I've tried looking thought the forums but it keeps dropping c6 off the search so it makes it extremely tedious.
ok, here is what I know. If you have a regular 2wd c6, then no. The transmissions the trans ebrake bolts to is the same as a 4wd version. The nice thing is there are tons of 4wd c6 trannies out there. Bad news is, there are not a lot of the tranny brakes. They were only used on large trucks and vans, such as rv and uhauls. will see if I can come up with some part numbers for you.
Alright so I figured out the answer to my questions about keeping the rear parking brake in some way shape or form while I do the disc brake conversion to my truck most kits don't have and parking brake option or you have to get the Cadillac calipers and I've heard mixed reviews on them for the Eldorado calipers which apparently are like hens teeth
Other options are line locks pinion mounted brakes transfer case mounted brake switch wont work in my case because I don't have a transfer case and the factory parking brake for a C6 transmission require a four-wheel drive model and I have a two-wheel drive
But though a butt ton of research for the last couple of days I finally found a kit that will take care of the problem
The kit is made by TSM Manufacturing has a double caliper bolt on mounting bracket meaning that the out front portion of the bracket on each side I can use for my juice calipers for braking and then I can mount some mechanical calipers on the rear bracket for my parking brake or vice a versa I haven't done any research on whether front mounted calipers for rear mounted calipers do better braking
