Hey guys, I'm looking at purchasing a 2018 f350 Platinum and noticed there is a plug hanging in front of the passenger side tow hook. Any ideas on what this is?
Also, the passanger side mirror has a crack in the housing, I tried looking for just the part but couldn't find it. Do I have to replace the whole mirror or is there a part number on just the housing that's cracked. Thanks.
The plug might be for the block heater. Are you located or was the truck once located in a cold area of the USA/Canada?
No parts are available to repair the mirror. You might can find a used mirror to scavenge parts off. Else, only option is leave it as is or buy a new mirror. Not sure if the manual tow mirror covers will swap or not.

Thank you! I'm in FL, but the truck was from somewhere up North, so that makes sense.
Darn, I was hoping I could find a cheaper route. I'll give the salvage yard a shot before ordering a replacement.
I'm wondering if you could buy a cheaper aftermarket mirror and use the housing with your guts? There are some posts here and possibly in the 17+ Super Duty section about taking one apart.

This was one of the first hybrid pickups put out by Ford. You just couldn’t go much more than 100 feet before the cord came out of the plug and the truck reverted to fossil fuel. It never really worked out very well, so it was only produced that one year...

Lol that makes sense...I thought it was the sensor for the blinker fluid reservoir tank.

My wife tagged my mirror on something and destroyed it, I got a replacement off Ebay for ~$500 that was new but without packaging, you have to just find the one with all the options. On a Platinum you probably have the same options mine had, power fold, power extend, heated, puddle lamp, temp sensor, BLIS and I think that is it. There are a bunch of different part numbers for the color matched/chrome caps options, but as long as the cap isn't damaged you can swap it to the new mirror fairly easily which is what I did.
Edit: Physically swapping the mirror is a trivial task, you just pop off the interior trim and there are 2 bolts under the trip and 2 bolts in front of the trim and then the electrical connector and it just comes off.
