New Here

Hello, I just became a truck owner with a new-to-me 1983 F150 with a straight 6. Some things are missing but it starts on the first turn of the key and had been sitting for at Least 3 years before I got it. What I am looking for right away is a OEM air-filter housing. Anyone can lead me in right direction, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Do you know what kind you need? In this link, if you scroll down you will see there are a couple different types for your engine. Air Cleaner Illustrations - Gary's Garagemahal (the Bullnose bible)

Welcome. You can use this website to find Bullnose trucks in a salvage yard near you:

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

You also might try LMC Trucks. I doubt the air cleaner housing is reproduced but they are a good supplier:

Welcome to FTE

When I was looking for one I also checked the for sale area down to the bottom of the main page.
They and not easy to come by.
I just told another member that had the factory assy. on his motor in a picture and a few pictures later he has this little 3" filter.
I asked him if he still had it and if not could he get it back as that 3" was junk. He had to pull it out of the trash but he said it was cracked.
I am sure it can be welded up and made to look like new again is what I told him.

This is for my 81 I think the later years had the round type like you on the v8 motors and no they will not fit, carb hole is to big.

Dave, that air cleaner housing looks SWEET!

Did you find the corrugated hose at LMC Trucks? I know the hose to the air cleaner housing is different for my IDI, but I like the look of your refurbished air cleaner alot better than the small chrome air cleaner in the before pic.
Sorry...

Thanks
I think I got the hose off Ebay it was for a Jeep IIRC a member on here pointed it out and needing one I went for it.
Want to say it is a Dorman part so if you can find a Dorman catalog you might be able to find it.
It is a little to long so makes it hard to get on but once on it is ok.

edit: I did a search in Dorman catalog and did not find anything that would work.
Moving over to Ebay and looked up "engine air intake hose" then 1980 Jeep with a 4.2 (258 I6) came up with a bunch from Crown.

You will need to measure what you have and then see what each one has for a size.
I know someone said the first that was listed in the thread I seen was to short or small and point me to the one I have.

Thanks for the link. I need to invest in a new air cleaner intake hose because the molded plastic hose on my IDI fell onto the exhaust manifold and melted. I fixed it temporarily with duct tape.
