Brake line info

Continuing work on my rebuild today. Got all the brake lines ran except for the master cylinder. Here’s what I’ve learned about the brake lines on my truck, and a few gaps I’m hoping others can fill in.

my truck is a 97 f-250 HD extended cab short box, but the axles came from an 87 F-350 cab & chassis dually. I got parts from all over the place but the part numbers seem somewhat universal between the major parts stores.

all the lines I did today were 3/16” standard lines with 3/8-24 inverted flare ends

The first thing I had to do was hit the junkyard for the brackets where the hard line and hoses meet for the front wheels. I bet I still have mine somewhere in this mess of a garage but I gave up looking after 15 or 20 minutes.

then I hit 4 different parts stores (plus went back to a couple). Most of it came from advance if you are having trouble with the part numbers. Here is my final parts list for the day:
front left hose: BHA38898
front right hose: BHA38121
hard line between front hoses: 51”
hard lines to back (from ABS module): 2x 72”
union for those 2 long lines: BLU-3C
rear hose: BHA38044
right rear hard line: 51”
left rear hard line: 20”

on the hoses:
in 87 they used the same hose left and right, presumably with some unique tee fitting to mate up with the main line from the MC. I could not find the appropriate fitting, but when I searched a 91 f-350 I found the hose listed above. In my pictures you can see that the part for the MC line faces back instead of up. Maybe they changed the bracket? The right hose did not change either way. The rear hose had a separate number listed if I searched my 97 (96) f-250 but I went with the older version. Not sure what the difference is.

on the hard lines:
51” was just a tiny bit too long up front, but pretty perfect. 2x 72” was just barely enough for my extended cab short box. Kinda doubt it would work for a long box. 51” was a bit long on the right rear as well, I wonder if 40” would work but it would be tight. 20” was just about perfect on the rear left.

my question is about the lines for the MC. There is a bigger one for the rear, I’m guessing it is 1/4”? Both of the lines are very long with a wound-up portion. Is this important for some reason? Seems like you could just go straight from the MC to the associated hoses.

thanks for reading this far, here’s some photos!

Bump

Anyone know why the lines from the master cylinder are all coiled up? Is it important that my replacements are as well?
